I have over 300 pens, not to mention my dip pen holders and thousands of dip pen nibs! But your post did make me think and I have just gone through my pens wondering which would stay and which would go - Nope, no decisions yet. The sad part I think would be my vintage pens. I had gone on a mad binge of purchasing those a few years back when my monthly income was just play money and I had no budget restraints, unlike now as I am retired! But they hardly ever get used because I do not want to wear out the parts, which are so hard to replace, but then, if you don't use them, they rot away anyway so now what???? Inks and paper, I mean what is the use of a pen without ink or paper? Perhaps I should just insulate the house, or at least my study to be water and weather proof, how simple is that and far less stressful that choosing pens, paper and ink! On the other hand, can you get bananas in an Italic?
I love the idea of insulating the study but if everything else gets damaged and you can’t reach the pens… trapped for all eternity?! As for bananas, good idea. I may just grind one. Tangentially, should I also write a post about banana looking pens? 🍌
You’ve got to be kidding. 164?! And here I thought you were a reasonable person. (I’m not accusing you of being sensible, don’t worry. That’s a little harsh.)
But pens aren’t much without inks…so which ones would you evacuate with? Other than Prickly Pear, that one we know. You only have three posts about it.
Oddly enough I really only took Prickly Pear with me. My thought process was :insert white noise: so I figured I could buy more inks later. But that’s a good question. When I moved to the US, I brought most of the inks with me apart from one or two. But I also didn’t have a suitcase full of pens at that time (only 55 I believe).
I don't have 162 pens (you maniac), more about 20-30, but I think I'd probably save three, three arbitrarily feeling like some kind of special or sacred or symbolic number while also matching a pen case I conveniently have. They would be a Nakaya bought as a wedding gift by my husband when it was finally "permitted", my late father's Parker VP (aside from everything, it is actually a nice writer), and... oh... oh, dear... I am not sure... [panic sounds rise in the back of my throat]
164 as I kinda bought two since I posted this… ahem. ANYWAY well two is a manageable number! And I am sure you can probably stuff at least two more in that pen case. But if you buy a 40 pen case like I will you can save them all and I think that’s even better. Follow me for more sound budgeting advice.
You’ve never even inked the Raden. And it’s in your daily carry?
;)
And it’s in my save until the Apocalypse carry!
