Oxford Blue and Sei-boku are both absolute stunners! Fell in love with Sei-boku after buying a few cartridge-only Sailor vintage pocket pens.

I ADORE green inks though, and there are so many good ones!! Colorverse Crab Nebula, Faber Castell Moss Green, KWZ Pine Green...

R&K Alt Goldgrün is acceptable, everything else… fight me!

Kidding. I don’t think dark greens are for me but you might like Monarca Nopal?

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I recently bought a bottle of Alt Goldgrün and have somewhat regretted the decision. Thanks for the rec though!

Interesting, I’ve never heard complaints about the Alt Goldgrün. It’s super wet and easy to clean. I assume color is not your jam?

It's partially the color, but also it's definitely not wet in my pens. I do tend towards finer nibs but even so

Well that is an unexpected turn of events. It makes my Pilot and one Jowo nib turn into a hose and absolutely unusable at work if I want to read my notes. So I exclusively use them at work. Hm…

Tsk tsk. Green is definitely the greatest color. Lol

Funny you mention BPC Burlywood. I have that inked right now and I love it!

Ew green. But all jokes aside I realized I have a lot of greens for someone who hates green. As for BPC — they need more love. Amazing inks and so affordable. I have Boiler Steam too, what a winner.

As a green lover... Have you tried Monteverde Gemstone Malachite?

As a green hater, I have not; I’ve noticed however that darker greens, like pine green for example, just don’t appeal to me. It’s light and lime greens that work — like the color of the perfect banana. Is that your favorite green?

I don't know if I have any favorite. I think that color often depends on content and context. What I do love is the way it feels to write and the sort of calm feel that I get from the color. Tl:DR:: I like the dark green but I wouldn't use it to write a story about a banana. 😂🍌

That is because you’d need lighter green for banana related stories 💚

Well... Now I need at least two things, banana yellow/green color shift ink and... To write a banana story.

I would read that. I’m trying to figure out the ink that would represent everything about this blog, but maybe Vert Olive?

Once upon a time I mixed inks… Apache Sunset with a few drops of Cactus Gruene (no idea why it was spelled that way) made this wild looking in between ink. Too wet but fun

I love greens (except light yellow-greens! Ugh!) but hate reds. Definitely hate Red Dragon and Matador. Yet I have several favorite reds, including Sailor Irori and Oku Yama. Which totally makes sense. I really enjoy this substack/blog, and I agree with you about Soft Snow of O'Hare airport. (Kinda dry though, isn't it? I mostly use it in Pelikans.)

See Red Dragon is the only ink you should use in a Jinhao Shark because it looks like the shark ate the person who made the first red ink. Especially if you color the eyes of your white shark red. Oku Yama is my go to now that Pen Chalet and Van Dieman decided to ruin my life by not having Prickly Pear in stock ever again. I just broke my pen fast by getting a sample of Sailor Kuzu. We shall see how that works out!

Oh and the airport made my day. I use it in a Justus 95 so I can’t tell if it’s too dry. I just love it.

That Prickly Pear does look amazing! Don't have a shark pen (should probably fix that), but if I had one I'd probably go with Dominant Industries Romania Red, which I also love despite it's being red.

That is a sweet red as much as reds go. Pure reds are almost as elusive as greens. And yes, get a shark pen. Just for the sake of being able to say you have one and it’s fun as heck. If I didn’t have the white one, I’d get a grey.

I might still do that.

I am saving this so I can build a great color collection!

My question is have you ever tried Akkerman SBRE Brown? I really want to like it but I don't know how much color variation it actually has.

Well thank you, that means a lot to me! I haven’t been able to acquire SBRE Brown, sadly. Like with greens I will lean towards lighter shades that look like different color (think KWZ Old Gold). However, I just inked my new pen with Diamine Cocoa Shimmer, and if you don’t know how cocoa looks and if you like shimmer, I think I would recommend this one!

I think Kon Peki has something in it that makes it want to get itself out of the bottle at any cost. On the plus side, the little thread that sits around the neck looks awesome died blue. I think they should factory die them on all their bottles.

Fully agree. That’s the only reason I’m not mad about the bottle spilling (I did try to get new labels but that didn’t work out). I will tell you the same thing happened to Momiji. Looks fabulous.
